Group 1 Lesson 1 Reflections

Group 1 has a great team ethic. We are working well together, thinking of each other’s strengths and helping in the areas that need growth. Dan and I worked in a team together last semester so we are acquainted with the way each other thinks and works, John joined us this semester and has seamlessly fit in.

The team work of which we are very proud of is the Lesson 1 Content Development. We worked together in a Google doc, each adding to it. We met twice to discuss the content and how we wanted it to flow. This was also a challenging piece as it has so much content and we really wanted it to make sense to our colleagues. Dan is our resident expert in graphics so he took the lead on that, I am strong with APA and proofreading, John added some good content and did his first Wordle for the conclusion. We all wrote the body of the paper so it is truly a collaborative paper.

We also worked well together in moderating the discussion forum. We each took a session and did a summary for it. We divided the Wordles as one for each week and had the summaries for each session. We were all active with our comments and watching the direction of the discussions. It was a good experience for all.

The strategies we worked with were the learner to learner and the collaborative paper. We took information from the discussion forum to add to our Content Development. We also designed our own PLE and that was a fairly new concept even though Dan and I had that in ETC677, John didn’t. I think the PLE is more dynamic this time around and I have used it extensively already. With our readings and the ONLE, the PLE makes more sense now. Doing the PLE diagram was a great way of “seeing” the connections that are in my network. Connectivity actually is very relevant in the way I work, learn, teach and communicate in my everyday life. Until you actually think about all the connections there are in your “network”, you don’t realize how connected you are to so many people and networks.

Using the blog as our tool for communicating the summaries of our group meetings is helpful as they are all in one central space and we can make comments as needed and add to the blog. We also are communicating via email and Elluminate.
